My Story

I grew up in Sri Lanka in a family of artists.So my father was a Wood carver ,my brother is working with food as I do now.Even as a small child I was always paiting and drawing whenever I could,then I began carving at about ten years old.At first,I worked on animals and then progressed on to human figures.
 
I would have my career as an artist,I joined the Galadari hotel in Colombo after showing them  my works,then started working in the kitchen and learning the basics.Then I got chance to involved in carving with Ice.I have never had a formal tarining but I learned  great things from a pastry team-in fact,I am still very much learning today.I stayed at Galadari Hotel for couple of years and then I moved to Dubai to work at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yatch club for 2 years.In there I got lot of experience in my career and rewaded .Then in 2000,I joined Carnivel Cruise line ,based out Miami USA,as what they called a travelling Culinary Artist for fleet wide.At there extended my range from  Ice carving to where I was supervising and designing for all the buffet decorations ,as well as preparing Vegetable & Fruit carvings,Wax,Butter,Chocolate and Styrofoam carvings for all the banquest  functions.I was also training new staffs and creating sugar crafts and pastry show peices.  In 2008 I moved to New York to work for Ice fantacies ,again carving ice for functions.Then 3 years back I shifted back to Miami where I am sharing my skills during this 15 years of my career.
